How to protect your kids with OSX parental controls

Internet could become dangerous for our kids nowadays. If we don't manage to protect our kids from inappropriate content, it could give negative impacts to our kids. In Mac OSX, there are ways to control our kids in exploring the internet.

1. Access limitation for apps and websites

Launch System Preferences > Users & Groups. Below the account list, click + button and select "Managed With Parental Controls. Fill all the details and click Create user to create new protected account. In Apps tab, you can limit your application setting in here, including age and allowed apps source and permission to modify the dock in your desktop.

In Web tabs, you can set restriction based on websites URL or grant permission to only certain websites.

2. Time limits setup
Next, you can set a time limit for your kids using the protected account you created before. For example, 3 hours per day setting when using Macs and give notification to the user in a certain time period before his / her time is up.
