iOS Update - What's new in iOS 9.1



Recently, Apple announced new iOS update for their devices. We notice that this new update comes with several improvement.


1. Quick reply for apps



If you are a whatsapp user, you definitely want to update to the new iOS 9.1. In this update, you can do quick reply from it's notification when someone chat you. Actually, quick reply already available on iOS 8 but only available for apple message.


2. 4K support for iMovie




If you are using iPad Air 2, this is a great new s for you. In iOS 9.1, you can create and share 4K video with iMovie using your iPad Air 2. Other Apple device which can use 4K feature in iMovie are iphone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and iPad Pro.

3. New emoji Characters



Apple add new emoji support for their iOS keyboard. There are quite bunch of new emo available for you.


There are several minor optimization as well in this new update, for example intelligent detection for live photos. Here are the complete lists from apple :

How to downgrade your iPhone from iOS 9 to iOS 8.4.1



If you, whatever the reason, disappointed with iOS 9, you still can downgrade your iPhone to the previous iOS version. In this tutorial, We will show you how to downgrade to iOS 8.4.1.

1. Download ipsw iOS 8.4.1 from here .

2. Deactivate "Find My iPhone" feature in your iPhone. You can do this by going to Settings > iCloud > Find My iPhone

3. Turn off your iphone

4. Run iTunes from your computer

5. Connect your iPhone to your computer through USB cable and then Press home and power button together for 10 seconds. Release the power button but hold the home button

6. iTunes will notify you that you are in the recovery mode. If you've seen this, you can release the home button.



7. Click the restore button in your iTunes and also press the shift button (PC) or Option (Mac)

8. Choose the ipsw file that you download before and the downgrade process will start.

9. Wait until the downgrade process done.

How to adjust music playback setting in your iPhone



In your iPhone, there is a way to set your playback setting according to the setting you want. Basically, it configure EQ setting which adjust the sound frequency. Apple make it more easier by providing several pre-configured settings that are ready for you to use. You can find these in your settings app.

1. Go to Settings
2. Choose Music menu
3. Scroll down to playback option
4. Switch EQ to On by tapping it
5. It will provide you with many pre-configured settings :



Choose the playback setting that you want.

How to fix problems in OSX El Capitan



Recently, several mac users report some problems after they update to the new OSX El Capitan. Here is problems that may appear on your side and how to fix it :

1. Spotlight problems



The spotlight sometimes didn't show results that you expected. First, you can try to deactivate and activate the spotlight again. To do this, Go to System preferences => Spotlight. Second, you can open the Search Results tab to see whether the spotlight index is correct. 

If the method above doesn't work, Go to terminal, run command mdutil -Ea to delete the index. Next, type mdutil -ai off to deactivate spotlight. Finally, activate the spotlight again using command mdutil -ai on.

2. Wifi problems



If you found problem with your wifi connection. First, you can try to restart your modem or wifi router and see if that works. If the problem persist, Check wifi settings in your mac. To do this, Click wifi in menu bar. Choose Turn Off Wifi. Next, open network preferences and click Advanced button. Delete the wifi SSID that you have problem with and try to connect again with that wifi. 

3. Mail problems



I personally often have problems with mail app. Sometimes, the app having issues in sending and receiving email. If you have same problem, you can try to turn off your wifi and internet connection and deactivate your mail account by going to Mail => Preferences => Account. 

Turn on your internet connection and activate your account. If you have more than one account, I suggest you to activate it one by one. 

4. Bluetooth problems



If you have problems with your bluetooth, the first thing you can do is to unpair your bluetooth and try to pair it again. If the problem still appear, try to connect it to your mac via usb port and eject it directly. Turn your computer off, wait for a moment and then turn it on again. 

Sometime, you may still have the problem, You can try to reset the controller setting. To do this, Follow the steps below : 

- Turn off your mac
- Press command, option, P and R until the screen turn into grey. 
- Hold it until your mac boot twice.
- Release the button.

After doing this, you need to reconfigure your timezone, screen resolution and speaker.

How to jailbreak your iPhone with Pangu iOS 9 jailbreak



In the previous post, you can download Pangu Jailbreak from their site. Now, we have the tutorial about how to jailbreak your iphone with Pangu iOS 9 jailbreak. Note: This jailbreak will be done using windows. Here is how :

1. Backup your iphone before starting the jailbreak process. If you have finished backup your device, connect it to your PC using USB.

2. Disable your passcode / Touch ID. You can do this by going to Settings -> Touch ID & Passcode.

3. Disable "Find My iPhone" feature in Settings -> iCloud -> Find My iPhone.

4. Run the Pangu jailbreak from your PC

5. Click the Start button and choose "Already Backup"

6. Your iPhone will reboot. After rebooting, Pangu will ask you to put your iPhone into Airplane mode. If you already done this, the jailbreak process will continue. 

7. In the process, It will ask you to allow access into Photo library. Accept it to continue. 

8. When "Pangu Would Like to Access Your Photos" appear. Click OK.

9. Your iPhone will reboot. After finish, disable the airplane mode. Your jailbroken iPhone is ready to use. 

10. Open Cydia app and you can start explore it.


If you don't have PC, you can run windows using virtual machine through your mac.

iPhone jailbreak for iOS 9 to 9.0.2 is out!!



Even iOS 9 has been released for only several weeks, there is jailbreak for this iOS already. The Chinese Pangu jailbreak team has released untethered jailbreak for iOS 9 and it claimed to be compatible with all apple devices which compatible with iOS 9. 

Altough the jailbreak is out, the OSX user still has to wait because there is only windows installer available right now. If you want to do the jailbreak, it is advised by the Pangu team to backup your iphone. Other things that you can do to increase the success rate are turn on the airplane mode , disable your "Find my iphone" and your passwords.

iPhone 6s Chipgate : How to know what chip you get



This issue has become hot news around the internet. As you know, Apple outsource their production to 2 companies : Samsung and TSMC. There is a buzz on the net that iPhone 6s battery with TSMC chip last longer than other which use Samsung chip. So, how to know what chips you've got in your iphone? There are several ways to know your chipset :

1. Using "Lirum device info lite"

With this app you can know directly about your chip and also the fastest way in my opinion. Search this app inside the app store and install it (it's free). Once it installed, Open the app. In the main page of the app look for "Model". If it's :

N66AP = Samsung Chip
N71AP = Samsung Chip
N66MAP = TSMC chip
N71MAP = TSMC chip

2. CPU Identifier

This method is also easy to do :

- Go to http://demo.hiraku.tw/CPUIdentifier/ from your iphone and install the app (Note : this is unsigned app)
- Go to settings , choose General
- Tap on "Profile"
- Search for Guangzhou Huimei Electronics
- Select "Trust this app"
- Open the app to know your chipset.

3. Using your iMazing app and your mac

If you have mac or PC, you can use iMazing app, which has similar feature like iTunes : 

- Download iMazing app from https://imazing.com/download
- Connect your iphone
- Choose "trust this computer" from your iphone if it's the first time you connect your iphone
- Select "Get info"
- Scroll down and look for "Hardware model"

How to Install OSX El Capitan for your Mac



It's pretty easy to install the new OSX El Capitan for your mac. Just make sure you backup your mac before upgrading to prevent data loss if there any errors that may happen during the upgrade. Using time machine for your backup is sufficient as upgrade preparation.

How to run two apps simultaneously on your ipad in iOS 9


 In the new iOS 9, Apple introduce new features for apps in iOS 9 which bring true multitasking in iOS 9. There are two types of this feature, which called as Split View and Slider Over.

Slide Over : Open New app while you already open an app.

To do this, you can swipe in from the right side of your screen to open new app along with the existing one.




A new window will open in a third of  the size of your screen and will display the app you choose.  You can also change it by swipe down from the top of your slide over window to show other apps, such as Safari, Maps, Photos, Calendar and stock apps in default iOS 9 installation.

Split View : Open two apps at once
In this type of multitasking feature,  You can run two apps side by side in your ipad screen at the same time. 




In order to do this , You just need to pull down  the top of your screen in Slide Over window and you’ll be have two active apps.  The other thing that you can do with this feature is to resize your app respectively or to have custom size screen for each app.  Just one thing you need to remember that this feature will only available on iPad Air 2.

5 Time saving tips for your iphone 6s & other iOS gadgets

With the new Apple iPhone 6s, new features being added to improve productivity. Here, we are going to share some tips that also applicable to other iOS devices : 

1. Fast reply to your notifications

Depend on the apps which have notification features, in your notification centre you can swipe down the notification message to see the apps option. Most apps have this kind of features.

2. Use Siri to read latest message

Siri could be really useful if you want to know latest message in your iphone. Just say "Siri, read my me my text message" and it will read latest unread message from your iphone.

5 Essential iCloud tips



1. Sync your photos automatically using iCloud

You can do this by enabling iCloud Photo library option in your Settings. The iCloud not only upload your photos to the cloud storage but also optimize it when uploading your photo to keep upload times short.

2. Use password protection 

This is a feature that we recommend to use in your iPhone or iPad. Since many iCloud security issues appear recently, this security layer will protect your data in the cloud storage. You can do this by adding password to your icloud keychain. 

3. Limit your upload to iCloud

You may want to limit your data which will be uploaded to your iCloud. To limit your icloud, Open Manage storage section and go to backup options menu. Switch the toggle to enable or disable automatic uploading for each apps installed in your iOS device. 


4. Edit files in your iCloud

Did you know that you can edit your files in your iCloud account ? If you create a document, for example using Pages, you can open them, edit it and apply your changes across your iCloud account. Go try it !


5. Purchase more storage

Do you need more storage for your data? You can purchase additional storage for your iCloud account to save more data. In order to get this, Open your settings app and open storage section in your iCloud menu. Use available storage plan to get more space.

How to setup "Do not disturb" mode in your iOS device

If you are working or want to enjoy your "me" time, this mode can be really helpful for you. In this post, I'll show you how to go inside this mode and what else you can do.

- First, Go to Settings app.

- Choose "Do not disturb" . You'll see options like below :


- You can choose to turn on this mode manually or schedule it (for example in the night when you want go to sleep or go to a meeting)

- If you want only receive calls from certain person you can also choose "Allow Calls From" and choose your contact.

How to protect your kids with OSX parental controls



Internet could become dangerous for our kids nowadays. If we don't manage to protect our kids from inappropriate content, it could give negative impacts to our kids. In Mac OSX, there are ways to control our kids in exploring the internet.

1. Access limitation for apps and websites



Launch System Preferences > Users & Groups. Below the account list, click + button and select "Managed With Parental Controls. Fill all the details and click Create user to create new protected account.In Apps tab, you can limit your application setting in here, including age and allowed apps source and permission to modify the dock in your desktop.

In Web tabs, you can set restriction based on websites URL or grant permission to only certain websites.




2. Time limits setup
Next, you can set a time limit for your kids using the protected account you created before. For example, 3 hours per day setting when using Macs and give notification to the user in a certain time period before his / her time is up.

Things to do for securing your mac - OSX security




1. Set login password
Go to System preferences and choose Security & Privacy. Set your password and tick "Require password after sleep or screen saver begins" option

2. Set download permission
In Security & Privacy menu, Change the option from where you allow an app to be downloaded. To stay safe you can choose to download your app from Mac App Store and identified developers.

3. Turn Filevault on
In Security & Privacy menu, choose tab "Filevault" and Click "Turn On Filevault" , follow the step and keep the recovery key.

4. Manage Location Services.
Go to tab "Privacy" and you can choose which applications that can determine your location if you enable Location services.

5. Time Machine
To keep your data safe, it is recommended to turn on your time machine and schedule your preferred backup setting. To do this, Go to System Preferences and choose Time Machine. Slide the Time Machine button to "ON" state and select your backup disc.

How to use your iPhone without any service



Today, Most people use smartphone in their everyday life. Without no doubt, smartphone makes people become more productive and work efficiently. Fast growth of smartphone today affect many telecommunication company to evolve. They provide not only voice and text message which very popular in the old times, but also data package. Users offered with many bundle package of their premium package with certain prices. I personally use iphone to support my everyday activities. The purpose of this article is to share some tips about how you can use your iPhone, even without activated plan.

Thanks to the growing chat app. Many people now use chat application like whatsapp to communicate with their family, friends and colleagues. Not only text messages, they also offer voice call for their users to talk each other. The best part is you can do all of this with wifi connection.

2. Skype



One of many apps that I always installed in my iphone. If whatsapp offer chat and voice calls for communication, I personally use skype to do video call with my family or friends. Sometimes, we want to show something when we talk to our friends or family. This could be the best option to do that. Skype also offer text and voice communication with conference feature.

3. iPhone wifi calling 



How about if our friend not using 2 apps above and we want to communicate with them ? This could be handy for iphone users. This is the feature that I like most within my iphone in term of communication. We can dial our friend or family numbers using wifi. The call recipient still see your phone number as the caller ID but the communication itself initiated through wifi protocol. How cool is that !


For the third option that I mention above, Apple only agree with the carrier which require it's user to have plan with them. You may ask, so what's the point if I must have a plan. Altough you must have a plan, you may meet certain conditions that it can be handy for you. For example, If you behind your bill with your carriers, This option still available to you. You can call even you don't have activated plan but still subscribe to your carriers. If you are in the US, this works with T-Mobile and AT&T. For Canada, you can use it with Bell and Rogers.
